Self propelled lawn mowers are machines that have powered drive to the rear wheels or roller from the engine or motor thus enabling the user to cut their lawn without the effort of pushing the mower. This type of mower can have either four wheels or a rear roller. The rear roller being suitable for lawns with drop boards where it is important for the mower not to drop off the lawn edge and not scalp the lawn. They also give that nice striped effect on the grass that is often required. Self propelled mowers are more expensive than push mowers, and are for bigger lawns, or where speeding up cutting time is important.
